Nepal is one of the world's richest sources of authentic handmade products, with centuries-old craft traditions and a thriving artisan community.
Bought at the Maker's Price
Pieces are bought face to face in the workshop, at the price the maker asks, and paid for on the spot. There is no importer, no agent and no consolidator taking a cut in between — which is why the money reaches the person who did the work, and why we can tell you exactly where a piece came from.
No two are the same
Hand-hammered bowls, mineral-pigment thangka, lost-wax bronze — none of it can be replicated by a machine, and none of it comes out twice the same way. The small variations are the proof of the hand that made it, and they are the reason we sell each piece as the individual object it is rather than as a line item.
What it costs, and why
Because we buy in the workshop and ship straight to you, the price covers the maker, the freight and us — and nobody else. An importer, an agent and a wholesaler would each take a margin on the way, which is how a £180 shawl becomes a £400 shawl without a single extra hour of work going into it.
Older than almost anything you own
Patan's metalworkers have cast bronze since the 3rd century. Pashmina weaving dates to the 15th. Lokta paper has been documented here for over a thousand years. These are not revivals or heritage-branded reproductions — they are unbroken working traditions, and the piece you buy comes off the same benches.
